My Bitcoin Journey (the short version)

Bought Bitcoin in 2017 with no idea what I was doing. Forgot about it. A friend's video in 2020 sent me down the rabbit hole, and I put almost all our savings in. Then, in 2021, I got hacked, classic mistake, but it never broke my conviction about Bitcoin's hopeful potential to change the world. I built a free Bitcoin course, orange-pilled about fifty people, and hit a wall: for most people, Bitcoin still sounds like weird internet money. So I stopped building a Bitcoin course and started building a bridge. Money first, then AI, then the realisation that this was really about one thing: helping women become the CEO of their own lives.

Dive deeper into my Bitcoin journey

I bought crypto in 2017 because a friend was playing with it, so I had no idea what I was doing. I took a little profit for a business-class trip to New York with my husband, and then promptly forgot all about it. Until the end of 2020, when another friend sent me a video, and over one Christmas holiday I fell all the way down the rabbit hole: a gazillion podcasts, a certification, and almost all of our savings moved into Bitcoin in the months after.

Then, in April 2021, I got hacked. A classic, stupid mistake (my seed phrase in a fake Trezor app). And here is the strange part: not being able to get it back is what made me even more convinced. I started saving in Bitcoin again a month later, and I decided I wanted to teach people the hope I had found in it, its potential to change the world on so many profound topics.

So in 2024 I built a free Bitcoin course and orange-pilled about fifty people. But I kept hitting the same wall: for most people, Bitcoin still sounds like some crypto scam. The gap between what I had seen and where most people stood was enormous.

Late in 2025, two things collided. I was finishing my book on human-centric transformation, and with thirty years in tech I was quietly annoyed by the AI hype, the same cycle I had watched companies fall for my whole career, rushing into AI without ever asking what it did for actual humans. So I wrote a chapter on AI's real promise: taking the draining, purposeless tasks off our plates so we get our time back for what matters. Around then I found OpenClaw. I ignored it twice as too risky. The third time, I couldn't resist it anymore. In a single weekend I built a Bitcoin app nicer than the one I had spent ages on before, and I realised I could build a whole platform.

But not a Bitcoin course. A bridge. Money first, because that is where people actually stand. Then AI, because money and AI together are what really set you free: they buy back your time for a more purposeful life. That combination is what it means to be your own CEO.

I had never been a "women-first" person, no separate communities, no glass-ceiling speeches. But talking to woman after woman, I kept hearing the same line: "I'm not a numbers person, but I know I should learn this." Something clicked. I think about Peter Diamandis and his moonshots, and I thought: what if I could help a billion women become more financially educated, more sovereign, more free? What if I could help them teach their children and grandchildren, too?

So in early 2026 I started building Be Your Own CEO. The first fifteen pioneers joined in April and May to do the Money journey, and I built the AI journey they are running now. Twenty-five years of leading transformation in big companies taught me the one thing underneath all of it: nothing ever transforms without the people inside it transforming first. My own life has been one long version of that. It's such a joy to get to impact these women on their own transformational journeys.

Sense of freedom

I grew up in a family on welfare, where money was stressful and something negative, and, as in so many families and so many schools, money was never really taught. The thing which finally gave me a real financial education was Bitcoin. Money was never a driver for me, so I always struggled with things like my pricing (I've worked as an independent since 2010). Bitcoin taught me that money is a representation of the value I add to society, and a tool for freedom. That's also why I wanted to build Be Your Own CEO: to extend this sense of freedom and empowerment to other women.

Proof it lands

Fifteen women, different ages, countries and starting points. What happened is the reason I'm still building.

The pioneers, in their own words.Real, anonymous stories, plus one number: across the first cohort, self-rated financial knowledge went from 4.1 to 7.1 out of 10.

Women Empowering Women

For every woman who joins the platform on a paid plan, I create a free spot for a woman who isn't able to afford it right now.

A tool I built for the Bitcoin community

What kind of orange-piller are you?

Why are some Bitcoiners struggling to orange-pill the women in their lives? A playful, self-aware test on what actually helps, because it's less about convincing them, and more about listening.

Why a podcast?

What I love most is connecting with people, a real conversation with a genuine connection, and that is exactly what makes the podcast such a special medium. I used to be a podcast host myself (see below), so I know first-hand how valuable it is.

A good fit if

We'll get on well

Your show goes deep, values honesty over hot takes, and treats guests and listeners as more than a number. You're building something genuinely good.

Probably not for me

If it's mostly about vanity metrics, clickbait, or getting a name on the poster, I'm likely not your guest, and that's completely okay.

Before this platform

For over 25 years I've been helping companies put people at the heart of their organisation through human-centric transformation, and I even hosted a podcast about it. Everything I learned there taught me one thing: no company ever transforms without the people inside it transforming first. Be Your Own CEO is that same belief, handed to one woman at a time. From The Human Centric CEO to Be Your Own CEO.
